CIKM is the only conference dedicated to fostering collaboration between the database, information
retrieval, and knowledge management communities. CIKM is held annually under the auspices of the
Association for Computing Machinery, the major professional organization for Computer Science, and
is sponsored by the Special Interest Group in Information Retrieval (SIGIR). CIKM showcases new
research in areas such as
text retrieval, multimedia database systems, web search technology, and user interfaces. Many
algorithms first presented at CIKM conferences are currently implemented in commercial products.
Practitioners and researchers from industry, government, and academia have regularly attended the
conference. Based on historical attendance levels, we anticipate over 250 participants for CIKM 2004.
We are now seeking sponsorship for the 2004 conference. Previous major sponsors of CIKM include SAIC and NCR. All sponsors will be formally acknowledged at the opening of the conference and links acknowledging institutional support will be made from the conference home page to the home page of sponsors as well. Opportunities for a major sponsor include hosting and speaking at the conference banquet, complimentary receptions, student travel scholarships, and coffee breaks. Gold ($5-10K), silver ($2,500-5K), and bronze ($1,000-2,500) sponsorships are available.
The 2004 conference is the 13th annual conference, and will be held November 8-13, 2004 in Washington D.C. This year’s General Chair is Dr. David Grossman. CIKM has had an acceptance rate below 25% for the past several years and typically receives over three hundred submissions per year. The five-day event will include presentation of research papers, poster papers, demonstration of commercial and research software, a day of tutorials, and a day of post-conference workshops.
