This workshop is the 12th of a series of symposia/workshops that began
in 1993 with the aim of bringing together researchers, developers,
users, and practitioners carrying out research and development in
novel systems based on geo-spatial data and knowledge, and fostering
interdisciplinary discussions and research in all aspects of
geographic information systems. The symposium will provide a forum
for original research contributions and practical system design,
implementation, and applications of GIS.

This workshop aims to synergistically connect the research community

This is the sixth in a series of workshops on Web Information and Data
Management to be held at CIKM 2004. The objective of the workshop is
to bring together researchers, industrial practitioners, and

This workshop provides a forum for original research contributions and
practical system design, implementation, and applications of
multimedia databases. The target audience includes university
researchers, scientists, industry professionals, software engineers
and graduate students who wish to become acquainted with new theories
and technologies in multimedia databases, and to all those who wish to
gain a detailed technical understanding of what multimedia databases
involve.

The purpose of this new workshop is to address a major and growing
challenge for industry and government: efficient and effective access
and processing of content contained in hardcopy documents. Some of
the topics to be addressed, both by academics and industrial
practitioners, include: IR in the image domain, innovative/robust OCR,
classification of OCR documents, processing text in video, information
visualization, processing faxed texts, form recognition from images
and noisy text, duplicate detection.
